To celebrate the RA’s 250th year in 2018 they commissioned a major refit of the building’s estate off Piccadilly in London’s West End. Cemento was commissioned to provide many furniture Items, including the prominent cast concrete desking elements. In section, these had a deep cantilever top with a single leg and base all formed in one monolithic piece.  To do this elaborate metal moulds were made to our drawing specification and various trial ‘pours’ were required before the first charcoal grey sample section could be approved. These long and joined sections now form the distinctive ticket and cloakroom desks, and bars for the entrance and hospitality rooms within the building complex.
